Cloud Busting: Puffin Poetry
About this deal
This is a poem so its different to what i would usually have. There were lots of different techniques of poem structures. Some were rhyming and some were haikus. I wrated it a 3 because it was very easy and i didn't understand it at first but then i got the point of it. As the theme of the books is bullying and friendship it would also provide relevant discussions of the topic.
They can't see themselves in the mirror, so they don't know how beautiful they are. But no one can see them but you and me. participate in discussions about books that are read to them and those they can read for themselves, building on their own and others’ ideas and challenging views courteously Despite his Mum's insistence, Sam doesn't want to be friends with Davey. He thinks Davey's a first class, grade A, total moron. But when the two boys are thrown together a bond is formed between them. Sam is still embarrassed to be seen with Davey, but little by little he has to admit, when it's just the two of them, Davey is a lot of fun. But then something terrible happens . . .This story shows how important it is for people to have friends who care about them even if those friends have different beliefs than yours do—and what happens when those friendships don't work out because of something else.
It looks at friendship, the beauty of accepting people’s differences and how those differences can serve to enrich a person’s character. Finally, if children do feel profoundly moved by this tale, ask them how they are going to bring the book, or its issues, to other people’s attention. This book came as a recommendation from a year four teacher. It did not disappoint. The poems are really well thought through and demonstrate different types of poems clearly. There are also morals which are touched upon within this story such as forgiveness and about bullying.
