Arms [ edit ] Shortly after Edward's accession, he proposed an alternative version of the Royal Standard for use by the Sovereign, defaced in the centre with a purple oval containing the cypher and crown of the reigning monarch. However, he was persuaded that such a proposal was impractical. [208] Grove, Eric J. (2005), The Royal Navy since 1815, Basingstoke: Palgrave Macmillan, pp.88–100, ISBN 978-0-333-72126-1 He was already suffering from typhoid but Victoria was convinced he died of moral outrage and never forgave her son," says Clarke who adds Victoria and Albert never saw that although outrageous their son was a natural ambassador.

Ordinarily, a man in Edward’s position would have had two choices: lose weight or try different positions. But this being the Prince of Wales, he decided to take a third option. Edward commissioned famous Paris cabinetmaker Louis Soubrier to create what he called a “Siege d’Amour”, or “Love Chair”. Installed in Edward’s private room at La Chabanais, the elaborate gilded device allowed Edward to continue having sex without crushing his partners with his enormous girth. It was also rumoured that the chair allowed Edward to have sex with two women at once, yet while the chair does feature a second cushion on the lower level it is unclear how this was supposed to function.

Such a funny book. Pupils loved this book because the pictures were so funny. Read as a class, Dirty Bertie is about a little boy who is just....dirty! I'm sure you will not be able to finish this book without laughing. It really shows small children what bad habits you should not have. The crisis eventually led—after Edward's death—to the removal of the Lords' right to veto legislation. As the eldest son of the British sovereign, he was automatically Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay at birth. As a son of Prince Albert, he also held the titles of Prince of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and Duke of Saxony. He was created Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester on 8 December 1841, Earl of Dublin on 17 January 1850, [4] [5] [b] a Knight of the Garter on 9 November 1858, and a Knight of the Thistle on 24 May 1867.
